The Southwest DeKalb High School marching band will appear on national television Saturday for the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade.
The 230-student band will march in the national parade, which will be broadcast at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The band departed Wednesday for Pasadena, Calif., a DeKalb schools spokesman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This is the second time in five years that the school band has participated in the parade.

The Tournament of Roses’ president, Jeff Throop, visited DeKalb three months ago to present the school with an official Rose Bowl Parade flag.

Southwest DeKalb and Central Carroll High School from Carrollton are the only Georgia schools participating in the parade, which features 15 marching bands, officials said.
