Sycamore Street as it looked in the 1940's

This was Sycamore Street as it looked in the 1940's between Church St. and East Court Square. These buildings were all removed and replaced by MARTA Plaza in the late 1970's. Bailey's Shoe Shop, established in 1904 (center) was the oldest Decatur business in continuous operation when it closed its doors. (Circa 1940's) Photo from Mrs. J.O. Bowen, Jr's. collection.
