Peach State Opera will present Puccini’s Tosca on Sunday, February 26th at 3 p.m. at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College’s Cole Auditorium at 3735 Memorial College Avenue, Clarkston, GA 30021.
As an artist affiliate of GSU Perimeter, the company produces condensed, family-friendly versions of classic operas in English.
Puccini’s Queen of the Stage, Tosca, plays the ultimate role of her life in a dangerous attempt to save her rebel lover from the scheming Chief of Police, who stops at nothing to possess her.
The triangle leads to a desperate and tumultuous conclusion, immersed in some of opera’s most passionate and masterful music.
Arrive at 2:00 p.m. for a free informative talk by opera connoisseur, Carter Joseph. Total run time for the show is approximately 2hrs., 20 minutes. As part of their mission to include local high school and college choruses in their productions, this production will feature students from the Dekalb School for the Arts choral program under the direction of Jeffery Funderburk.
Tickets are available at http://peachstateopera.org/ and at the door. Those interested in coming as a group should contact Nancy Martin to reserve at iljrd@yahoo.com . Groups of ten or more are admitted for $10 per ticket.
