The Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) gives community members the chance to learn about all aspects of police operations, meet many of the men and women who serve in the Decatur Police Department, see how officers are trained, learn crime prevention strategies and view police work first hand by riding with patrol officers. The Citizen’s Police Academy is also an excellent opportunity to develop working relationships with our Police Department staff.
Classes are held Thursday nights from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm. The tentative dates for the 2014 CPA are every Thursday from September 11, 2014 to November 13, 2014 (10 weeks).
The application for Citizen’s Police Academy is available here. Mail or drop off (Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm) completed applications to Sgt. Jennifer S. Ross, Decatur Police Department, 250 East Ponce de Leon Avenue, Suite T-130, Decatur, GA 30030. *Deadline for submission of applications is Friday, August 29, 2014.
