Come and celebrate the kick-off of summer Decatur-style at Summer in the City on Friday, June 15 from 5 to 11 pm in downtown Decatur. This is truly where the beach meets the street with pop-up performances, a DJ, live music, a sandy “beach,” and more. Best of all, admission is now FREE.
Gather up those sand toys and come ready to play as this year Summer in the City is bringing in even more beach than before, with 80 tons sand hitting Ponce De Leon Avenue. Kids’ activities will line the boardwalk area, and for the older kids we are bringing back the rock climbing wall and other exciting games.
Enjoy pop-up entertainment by a variety of musical and dance acts including Vintage Vixens, and come ready to get funky with DJ Quasi Mandisco. At 8 pm on the MARTA Plaza stage, Bogey and the Viceroy
return to deliver classic soul, retro rock/pop, and current chart
toppers. The eight-piece group, led by New Orleans native Bogey
Thornton, is famous for packed dance floors and good times, so get ready
for a great evening of dancing under the stars.more
