Could Cabela's be in Buford's Future ?
Tomorrow's News Today is having a vision of a Cabela's in the soon to close BrandsMart USA store in Buford, GA.
That would be a ideal location as Mall of Georgia is at that exit.
New Cabela's in Acworth GA
Here is the Tomorrows News Today article>
From: tonetoatl.com
Could big box retailer give way to a growing outdoors company?
Hollywood, Florida-based BrandsMart USA will soon close its 118,000 square foot store on Buford Drive near the Mall of Georgia.
Nebraska-based Cabela's entered Georgia earlier this year with a 42,000 square foot store in Augusta. Earlier this month, Cabela's entered the the Atlanta market with a 100,000 square foot store in Acworth. Plans call a 72,000 store to open in Fort Oglethorpe late next year.
While modifications would obviously need to be made to the building, its existing size and surrounding amenities and demographics would seem to make it ideal.
Aside from the building's proximity to Mall of Georgia, it's also a stone's throw from the 10,000 seat Coolray Field, home to the Gwinnett Braves. The Gwinnett Braves are the AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and often the place to see the next great player and also see rehabbing stars. Similar to the major league team, the Gwinnett Braves attracts fans from the southern region and not just the local area.
Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Cabela's closest competitor, has a location at Sugarloaf Mills. R.E.I. and Sports Authority both have locations near Mall of Georgia while Dick's Sporting Goods has a location in Mall of Georgia.
Readers of this site suggested that a Whole Foods Market would be a good replacement. A Whole Foods seems great and all, but the idea that they would open in such a large space away from compatible co-tenants makes little sense. Additionally, there is basically no chance Whole Foods would take on that entire space in any city, let alone Buford. In case you have not been there, a Waffle House opened earlier this year in an outparcel of the BrandsMart and is only accessible through the retailer's parking lot. I don't know that there is much crossover traffic between Waffle House and Whole Foods.

"Bond 24" Looking for Iconic Bad Guy and Bond Girl
We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy.
From: www.christiantoday.com
The next 007 film won't hit theaters for yet another 14 months, but there is high anticipation of what the 24th installment of the long-standing Bond franchise would present. Currently, the team behind what is now simply dubbed as "Bond 24" is hard at work finding the suitable Bond girl, a formidable foe, and the right location.
MI6, a website dedicated to everything Bond, named several ladies being considered to play the lead female role opposite Daniel Craig. The list includes Norwegian actress Synnove Macody Lund, Danish actress Birgitte Hjort Sorensen, Norwegian actress Ingrid Bolso Berdal, and Swedish actresses Disa Östrand and Ida Engvoll. While these ladies are being considered, agent Anne Lindberg said that no casting decisions have been made.
Craig, the sixth actor to play the character on film over a span of 50 years, was joined by Bérénice Marlohe in the last movie, Skyfall.
There are also high expectations on the type of villain the fictional British secret service agent would face. The casting call revealed in James Bond Radio would perhaps give the audience an idea of what 007 will be up against.
The casting call says:

Hinx (Male, 30 – 45)
Ideally over 6′ 2″. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.
Height: 180cm – 195cm
In another article, MI6 reports that the next Bond film would shoot in Obertilliach, Austria instead of Norway, although this has yet to be confirmed.
Bond 24 is scheduled to hit UK theaters on Oct. 23, 2015 and in the US on Nov. 6, 2015.

Tucker CID Welcomes Northlake Businesses, Changes Name
From: thechampionnewspaper.com
Tucker CID welcomes Northlake businesses, changes name
Posted by Carla Parker
The Tucker CID is now the Tucker-Northlake CID.
This week the Tucker Community Improvement District voted to change its name to the Tucker-Northlake CID. According to CID officials, the new name reflects the CID’s focus on economic development and infrastructure improvements for the communities to the east and west of the I-285/LaVista Road interchange. Along with downtown Tucker, the CID boundaries extend down Lavista, Henderson Mill, and Northlake Parkway through the Northlake shopping district and the Montreal industrial corridor.
“We certainly believe there is strength in numbers, which is why a CID is so appealing to community business leaders,” said Ann Rosenthal, president of the Tucker-Northlake CID. “Commercial property owners within the CID pay a self-imposed tax, and the funds are used within the CID area for transportation and infrastructure improvements, public safety, economic development and quality of life improvements.”
“Even though the Tucker-Northlake CID is only a year old, we have already improved the I-285/LaVista Road intersection and are preparing to kick off a major master planning process for the area,” Rosenthal added.
In May, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners approved the Tucker CID’s request to annex the Northlake commercial properties. The expansion adds over $110 million in property value.
The Tucker-Northlake CID now includes more than 166 commercial property owners, representing approximately $157 million in property value.
More than 67 Northlake commercial properties into the organization Aug. 7. were welcomed.
In addition to renaming the CID, the organization elected two new board members to serve with the existing board for 2014-2015. The new board members are Frank Goulding of Newell Recycling and Peggy Berg of the Hampton Inn. Existing board members returning for 2014-2015 are CID chairman Bill Rosenfeld of Rosenfeld Jewelry, vice chairman John Martin of John Martin State Farm, treasurer Annie Gibson-Ervin of Kaiser Permanente, secretary Michelle Weston of Bank of North Georgia, Louis Brown of Trust Associates and Barry Schrenk of Taggart’s Driving School.
Currently, there are 18 Community Improvement Districts in metropolitan Atlanta, including Dunwoody and Stone Mountain. CIDs are public-private partnerships that allow commercial districts to self-fund major infrastructure, security, transportation, and quality-of-life improvements through a special tax paid only by the non-residential, commercial property owners within the district.
These funds are further leverage for multi-million dollar state and federal grants applied to massive re-engineering projects. Funds raised by CIDs remain in the districts and use of those funds are determined by the CID board of directors elected from the consenting commercial property owners. Representatives of the cities and counties where CIDs are formed also sit on CID boards.

Burger King to Buy Doughnut Burger maker Tim Hortons
--
From:marketwatch.com
What does the news about Burger King’s potential acquisition of Tim Hortons really mean? Forget the dollars-and-cents aspects or the cross-cultural implications of an American fast-food giant moving into Canada. For some crazed gastronomes, it’s about something altogether different.
Namely, the potential for the doughnut burger to go mainstream. Never heard of the doughnut burger? Obviously, you’re not a fan of Luther Vandross. The late R&B singer loved the idea so much it’s often called a “Luther” in his honor. Nor have you spent any time on the state fair circuit, where the doughnut burger is becoming the new must-have outrageous treat — the 2014 answer to the fried Oreo. Who came up with the idea for stuffing a burger between two halves of a glazed doughnut in the first place? Well, Vandross is often credited with the concept. But Paula Deen, the controversial kitchen diva, has claimed ownership. Food fanatics also say Mulligan’s, a bar in Decatur, Ga., had a hand in the whole thing, too.
Whatever the case, the doughnut burger is probably not as much of a stretch as it may seem. After all, Americans have increasingly embraced the idea of oddball food combos — so much so that there’s now a whole TV show, “Frankenfood”, devoted to them. And the doughnut burger is nothing more than an affirmation that sweet and salty go together like, well, bread and butter. Think kettle corn, another fair favorite, or sprinkling salt on a melon, a culinary trick that has been proven scientifically to make sense. (Suffice it to say, salt is an easy “get” — we perceive its taste quickly. And thus, it serves as something of a boost for sweet, which is a more complex taste.)

Cozy Burger Town to Close and Starbucks will Open at Suburban Plaza
From: http://www.tonetoatl.com
Selig Enterprises is looking to add a Starbucks Coffee to Suburban Plaza. Sadly though, for some Decatur residents, the Starbucks will open on land currently occupied by Cozy Burger Town, a restaurant with a seemingly cult-like following. A second Cozy Burger Town opened last summer in Northlake Mall's food court, but clearly it would not be an alternative for most in Decatur.
A 1750 square foot Starbucks with a drive-thru has been proposed for the site in Suburban Plaza, but has not yet been approved by all involved. While it's doubtful the neighborhood will stand up and speak out so vocally about the demise of Cozy Burger Town as they did with Walmart, I have no doubt there will be at least some debate.
Signage posted on Cozy Burger Town indicates the restaurant will be closed today Monday August 25th through Monday September 1st, with plans to reopen for lunch on Tuesday the 2nd. One would-be customer I spoke with at the restaurant today was sad to see her go-to burger joint closed. I informed her it was to be replaced by a Starbucks and she was not thrilled. I also informed her (somehow ,this was still news) that a Walmart Supercenter was coming and that news was met with great excitement.
Cozy Burger Town opened in early 2010, replacing the short-lived One Love Diner, in a "hut" that originally housed Pizza Hut.

Finding that Perfect pair of Jeans
fROM:www.askmen.com
For many, jeans are the most valuable player in your wardrobe. Usually, this isn't because they're the most expensive piece of clothing you own, or even the best-looking. Instead, it's their versatility that's important, as you can wear jeans around the house, in the workplace, on a date, or on casual outings. Despite this usefulness, however,
So what should you look for when searching for that perfect pair of jeans? Aside from price, here are some tips to keep in mind.
picking the right pair
Consider when you'll be wearing them
It goes without saying that being comfortable in your jeans is the most important thing; after all, even the best-looking pair of jeans will look odd if you're uncomfortable in them. Nevertheless, keeping in mind when and where you'll wear your jeans will make the process of choosing much easier.
If, for example, you only wear suits to work, your jeans might be reserved strictly for going out or for lounging around the house, which means you have few restrictions when selecting a wash and fit. If your work environment allows jeans, however, denim might be everyday wear. In that case, you might have to consider more conservative styles, as even in the most casual workplaces, subtlety goes a long way. Either way, always ensure your jeans look good with sneakers, boots or dress shoes.
Look for timeless washes
It's hard to say what will be in style a year from today at the retail level, but by sticking with tried-and-true denim styles, you can aim for and land a pair of jeans that will remain stylish for years. Here are three classic examples:
Original blue jeans: Evolving from rough-and-tumble work wear, these are now one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own.
Slightly faded blue jeans: More casual wear than anything else, these can nevertheless look good with a nice sports coat and shirt.
Dark denim: You really can't go wrong with a pair of straight-leg dark denim. Wear it to the office with a white oxford and navy blazer or throw on a leather jacket for a street-ready look on the weekends.
Flashier colors, funky washes and excessive distressing are always off-limits in terms of timelessness.
finding that perfect pair of men's jeans is never easy.

2,000 Silver Coins Found in 1915 bungalow Torn Down in Florida
St. Cloud, Florida
From: http://www.newsmax.com
By Morgan Chilson
City workers tearing down a Florida home in April found 2,000 silver coins stashed in the walls, apparently hidden there during the Great Depression.
The St. Cloud, Florida, city crew was demolishing the house, which had been abandoned after the owner failed to pay more than $511,000 in liens to the city, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
Rumors of the find had been circulating, but police this week confirmed those rumors by showing the coins, which had been stored in evidence. City officials had waited to determine whether the owner might come forward to claim the coins.
The 2,000 silver coins weigh about 60 pounds in total and the current price of silver is about $20 an ounce. Based on that calculation alone, without considering any historical value that may be found in the coins themselves, the find is worth about $19,000.
Police said the coins would be appraised to determine whether their value would be as coins or as silver.
The Sentinel said the find included 861 half dollars, 1,016 quarters, 202 dimes, and three nickels. The money was apparently stored in glass pickle jars in the walls.
"It was kind of like a treasure hunt. Everybody that was there was digging in this filth picking up these coins," Melissa Howes, a city worker, told WFTV.
"We thought we might be able to keep it like finders keepers, but it was city property," Howes told the Sentinel.
Workers believe more coins may have been in a trash bin that was taken to the dump before the coins were found, the Sentinel said.
The house was a 1915 bungalow, and Pete Gauntlett, chief of police in St. Cloud, told the Sentinel it was likely they were hidden during the Depression when many people were scared of banks failing.
The house had previously been owned by Lamarr LoMax Lowe, a former Walt Disney World employee who abandoned it when code-enforcement liens went over $500,000, the Sentinel said.

Will Halt and Catch Fire be Renewed ?
From: http://mashable.com/2014/08/04/halt-and-catch-fire-season-finale-recap/
By AJ Marechal
“So, what’s next?”
A clean-shaven Gordon sits at the head of a Cardiff Electric conference table, staring at a group of employees that he now presumably leads. The small team reads out loud reviews of the Cardiff Electric PC entrant, The Giant — reviews that dub the computer a “strong contender” in the “no frills” computer market.
The PC is sensible, practical, and, well, boring. Remarkable in the moment, but so clearly unremarkable in the grander scheme of technology, and the future of the industry. Cardiff has created a footnote, and the faces behind the PC know it ...
Especially Joe.
COMDEX drama, boiling over in the previous episode, has cooled to a simmer during the Season 1 finale of the still-not-yet-renewed Halt and Catch Fire, titled “1984.”
Donna and Gordon are somehow salvaging their marriage once again, despite the revelation that Donna had an almost-affair with a colleague from TI. Cameron has ditched Cardiff entirely after Joe and Gordon stripped The Giant of her OS at COMDEX, and is punching the clock at a phone company. Bosworth, under investigation by the feds for hacking bank accounts, is nowhere to be found. And Joe, the leader of the Cardiff PC venture, stares at his computer product with an anticlimactic gaze, even while the company pops champagne as shipments of The Giant arrive in shiny, impressive boxes.
The entire season of Halt and Catch Fire has built to this moment at Cardiff — the company has indeed built an IBM-compatible PC, and a portable one at that. It will turn profit. It will be on store shelves in mere weeks. But is this what success looks like?
Gordon has purchased a Porsche and cleaned up his look, but in a cruel turn of events, is carjacked following a Cardiff party celebrating The Giant — Donna, tossed out onto the street, breaks her arm as criminals make away with Gordon’s flashy trophy of job well done, as if the universe is reminding Gordon, “No, this is not you.”
And is this what success looks like for Joe? In a last ditch effort to infuse his PC with something unique, something with vision, he tasks the Cardiff coders with creating an app that can be bundled with the Cardiff PC software. The coders, however, quickly jump ship at Cardiff when Cameron presents them with a new tech concept birthed from her job at the phone company — use phone lines to connect people’s computers, allowing them to play games and communicate over what will eventually become the internet.
The Hail-Mary pass to add a visionary element to The Giant fails, and Joe resigns himself to the product they have in hundreds of boxes, ready to hit store shelves.
As Gordon watches his Porsche speed off into the distance, Joe — jaded by his own product — stands in front of a truck filled with Cardiff PCs following the company party. He douses the boxes in gasoline, takes out a lighter, and sets the computers on fire, watching his work burn down, as if it were all for nothing. Perhaps, for Joe, it was.

This 9 Year Old Girl Singing “Folsom Prison Blues” By Johnny Cash Will Make Your Jaw Drop!
From: http://www.lifelooker.com/folsom-prison-blues/
Emi Sunshine is a nine year old girl. Though her age is small, her talent is wonderfully huge. This little girl impressed the whole Market Square with her incredible singing talent. The way she sang “Folsom Prison Blues, in Knoxville, Tennesse everyone was left speechless.
This little girl started producing music a few years back. Though she hasn’t yet been to any musical school she sings like she is a trained singer. The way she has given voice over to this song, its tough believe she has never been trained.
This little girl has never had any music courses or any vocal training online however she not only sings gorgeously but also knows to play many musical instruments like mandolin, kazoo, ukulele, banjolele, and piano. With an incredible talent like this, its really good if she plans to opt for singing colleges in the future that will help her to lookout for music careers and also help in producing music officially.
This little girl enjoys music and forgets everything while singing. Her soul gets happy when she plays with music. And along with that, the little girl has her own songs too! She is sure shot famous artist of tomorrow.

Big Box Stores are so Yesterday ?
From:
moneytalksnews.com
By Krystal Steinmetz
Big-box discount retailers like Target and Walmart are not as popular with shoppers as they once were. It appears the domination of big-box stores might be coming to an end.
Goldman Sachs recently downgraded Walmart stock from “buy” to “neutral.” Meanwhile, the investment banker upgraded Costco stock to “buy,” Forbes said.
In a note to clients, the firm explained the rise of e-commerce has prompted customers to see less value in general merchandise stores with large product assortments. Shoppers now prefer a combination of value and convenience, which analysts said they have found in narrow-assortment retailers like dollar stores, drugstores and warehouse clubs.
The migration of shoppers to Amazon, Costco and smaller stores appears to be taking its toll on both Walmart and Target. Arkansas-based Walmart has experienced declining sales for five straight quarters, and its U.S. CEO was recently replaced, according to Business Insider.
Meanwhile, Target’s profit fell 16 percent in the first quarter, compared with one year earlier, The Huffington Post said.
Charles Fishman, author of “The Walmart Effect,” told HuffPo:

BMW has announced plans to restore Elvis Presley's 507 Roadster, which the rock star bought in 1958 while stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army.
According to MSN Autos, Presley fell in love with the Roadster after learning the Porsche 550 Spyder wasn't available. He leased the car for $3,750, which is about $450,000 today. It is one of only 254 507 Roadsters.
The Roadster had been part of BMW's test fleet and was outfitted with upgrades before it was shipped to Presley. Rumor has it that he had it painted red because he was tired of female fans writing on his white car with their lipstick.
When Presley returned to the U.S. in 1960, the Army shipped his car from Germany back to the States. He sold it two years later and the new owner modified the Roadster for drag racing.
It was sold again in 1968 and apparently spent decades sitting in a warehouse, World Car Fans said. Now that owner has sent the car back to BMW for restoring, a process that could take two years.
Presley's Roadster is currently on display at the BMW Museum until Aug. 10, MSN said.

SHARKNADO 2: THE SECOND ONE was actually a thing, that was actually happening, in actual real life? You bet your sweet ass it is, and we've got its teaser right here to prove it! We saw in the first film that when these sea demons—known as sharks—get pulled out of their dark blue hell and into a deadly twister that only the likes of Tara Reid and Ian Ziering can possibly save the day. Well, good thing for us, they both make their return in the "highly anticipated" sequel that promises even more ridiculous shenanigans that only Syfy can come up with.
