Decatur-based singer-songwriter Caroline Herring will officially release
her latest CD, “I Will Go Into the Day,” on Jan. 11 at the Decatur
Library.
She will perform a mix of fast-paced happy tunes, including jazz,
bluegrass, country, western swing, Yiddish and even country blues, from
the CD at the 11 a.m.-to-noon event.
Most of the songs were written by her, but she also includes “John
the Rabbit,” a Mississippi folk song, and “Donna Donna,” a beautiful and
plaintive Yiddish folk song made famous by Joan Baez.
This is the seventh album for Herring, an internationally renowned
singer and songwriter who has been interviewed on NPR’s “All Things
Considered” and has performed on “A Prairie Home Companion.”
